Slot Game Review
Treasure Box is a IGT’s ingenious take on the ever popular Hold & Respin feature. There are a lot of cool chases in this game, and the persistence mechanic does its job and keeps you in your seat!
Base Game & Free Games
Both the base game and free games don’t offer much by themselves. My impression is these are lower volatility ways games, with little RTP dedicated to standard wins. If you manage to trigger the free games, they take the minor symbols away, but those wins still are not the star of the show.
More often than not the chase is going to come from the Coin symbols. By default if you collect 6 or more on a single spin, you get into the Hold & Respin feature. Pretty typical, right? IGT offers some cool ways of making this more intriguing than a typical Lightning Link game.
First is the coins themselves will pay a credit prize, whether you trigger the feature or not. Second, and more importantly, is the Key Feature. If you get a fully stacked Key on reel 3, that is one less Coin you’ll need to trigger the Hold & Respin. It’s not uncommon to only need 2 or 3 Coins to trigger the Hold & Respin, and there’s no way you’re leaving the machine in that scenario!
Hold & Respin

This game adds some cool token types to make this more interesting than a standard Hold & Respin Feature.
- Coins: Award a credit prize
- Treasure Box: Takes all coins off the board and aggregates them into a single coin.
- Multipliers: Multiplies all coins on screen.
- Gems: Collect them to get a progressive or bonus prize.
The multiple prize types give the player multiple things to chase, which feels pretty engaging. Weirdly enough, I felt myself dreading seeing a Diamond gem during the feature, despite them awarding the top progressive. You need to collect 5 of them, and as you’d expect they mostly just take up space that could be used for a more useful token.
Verdict
Even if it’s not your preferred style of game I highly recommend giving it a try. The design is too clever to ignore.
